Can a 'Fertility Diet' Actually Improve Your Chances of Getting Pregnant?
Hello Beautiful! Are you on a "Fertility Diet" to help increase your chances of getting pregnant naturally or to improve your chances of IVF success?
Do you feel like it's just not working for you? For the simple fact that you're not pregnant yet, or you can't maintain a healthy pregnancy. I feel ya girl - I was there for years! And here's what I learnt - there's NO perfect fertility diet that everyone dealing with infertility should be doing.
We all have different needs & we have to figure out what the perfect fertility diet is for us. I went Paleo for over a year and even though it helped me improve my overall health & embryo quality I didn't get pregnant - even with the support of IVF.
I had to dig deeper and figure out what foods worked best for me & what was causing inflammation = my unexplained infertility.
Sarah & I discuss why your Fertility Diet might not be working for you & how to figure out what you need to do to create the best fertility diet for yourself!

Topics Discussed:
🦩Recurring miscarriages
🦩Determining how stressed out you are.
🦩Finding out your egg quality.
🦩Getting pregnant and the covid vaccine.
“Pregnancy is not a sign of health.”
When we are on the infertility journey stress can be overwhelming. Oftentimes what we don’t realize is that we are bringing a great deal of stress just from everyday life. Then when we add to that the stress of not being able to have a child it can be overwhelming. I love being able to answer these questions because they resonate with just about everyone who is on the fertility journey. Why I called Bullsh*t on conventional treatments for PCOS | Clare Goodwin
Tuesday Jun 01, 2021
Tuesday Jun 01, 2021
💚 On Tuesdays, I'm bringing back some of the first podcast I recorded. They are raw and not newly edited, so you will hear the podcast being called Infertile Diagnosis. But don't worry, you're still getting top quality content and the support you need 💚
HELLO BEAUTIFUL! Today we have Clare Goodwin on the podcast talking about when she called Bullsh*t on conventional treatments for PCOS!
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a very common endocrine condition, which affects approximately 5-10% of young women. Woman with PCOS are often put on the pill at a young age, which can cause more chaos when you're ready to start trying to conceive.
PCOS and infertility can go hand in hand. PCOS can negatively impact your fertility due to the fact your body does not release an egg, each month because of the overproduction of estrogen by the ovaries. When ovulation does not occur regularly, periods become irregular and increased levels of hormones such as testosterone, which can have a big impact on egg quality. PCOS can lead to insulin resistance, and increase the risk disorders such as gestational diabetes.
That's a lot to take in & we haven't even covered abnormal hair growth, acne & weight gain!
I wanted to have Clare on the podcast, because she is the perfect example of taking control & calling BS on the way conventional medicine was treating her PCOS. She was following it all to a T & still feeling like shit. She started to do things a little differently & found she could not only manage her PCOS but thrive.

“The mindset is the number one thing missing from your fertility diet.”
Topics Discussed:
🦩Asking the question ‘why me’.
🦩How living in a physical world causes physical problems.
🦩The power of investigating the emotional and spiritual side.
🦩Understanding that we do difficult things for the future.
When we are on the infertility journey it can be really to ask ourselves the question ‘why me’? What did we do to deserve this and we can go to a very dark place. But we have to realize that this isn’t necessarily any fault of our own. It’s not the universe telling us we are a bad person. Rather it has to do with the genes we have been given, and the lifestyle and diet choices we have made over our life.
“The diet and lifestyle you’ve been living have a huge impact on your fertility.”
We live in a physical world and physical things are going to happen to us because of that, just know it is not anything against you. I dive into the emotional and the spiritual elements of that and how we need to dive deep into our thought process. While that alone is not enough, it is a vital part of the process as we change our lifestyle to support our overall health and the future health of our children.
“You have the power to improve your situation.”

Common Issues with Fertility Diet Changes || Q&A 2
Friday May 21, 2021
Friday May 21, 2021
"Start with where you are at."
Topics Discussed:
🦩Why you feel like crap when you start an autoimmune diet.
🦩How fast should you cut out unhealthy foods?
🦩Histamine foods, what they are, and if you should have them.
🦩Natural laxatives.
🦩Are juice cleanses necessary?
When you start eating right it’s not uncommon to feel really bad at first. Our bodies are going through a big change, and you can have withdrawals when you come off of certain foods like sugar or caffeine. This is completely normal. This is also why it is important to start where you are and not rush the process. Depending on how addicted we are to certain unhealthy foods we may need to wean ourselves off it rather than going cold turkey.
"Usually, the last thing to click into place is your fertility."
In addition, as we change this process our bodies are cleaning themselves. This may lead to either too many bowel movements or not enough so I am talking about how to naturally get things moving with that or how you may need to cut out certain items to slow it down. I also tackle juice cleanses. They have grown so much in popularity but are they really necessary and is juice cleansing really a thing?
"You have to find your balance."

My Fertility Diet Doesn't Work! What Should I do? || Q&A Part1
Friday May 14, 2021
Friday May 14, 2021
“Digging deeper is sometimes really necessary.”
Topics Discussed:
🦩E numbers and oils, and are they hurting you?
🦩Why when you start eating clean you can feel like crap.
🦩How long do you need to be on your specific diet?
🦩Passing down dirty genes.
In this episode, I am discussing a lot of common questions I get asked. We are starting with our overall health, along with generational health. We have a tendency to look at our grandparents and their way of life and think they are healthy, but what we don’t realize is generational with the introduction of more unhealthy products, rancid oils, and more that our health is consistently growing worse with each generation. This is why it’s important to focus on our health not only for ourselves but to improve the genes of our future children because we are the ones passing on to them the genes they will have forever.
“Working with someone can get you on the right track.
I also talk about foods that we are told are healthy by food industries and marketing companies, but actually are filled with products that are not good for us. I fell into this with constantly going to whole foods thinking that everything in there must be healthy but upon further examination found many unhealthy products in “health” food. This is why it’s so important to really examine everything we put in our bodies.
“The less boxed food you eat, the less you risk eating inflammatory foods.”

Addressing Inflammation & Fertility Diets || Q&A Part 2
Friday May 07, 2021
Friday May 07, 2021
“The number one thing missing from your diet is your mindset.”
Topics Discussed:
🦩How diet affects your inflammation levels.
🦩How trauma affects your health.
🦩Secondary infertility explained.
🦩What to do for endometriosis.
In this episode, I am answering your questions and we dive into some really good ones. We dive more into diets and the importance of finding the foods you are intolerant to. In addition, we talk about timing. It can be easy to want things to happen right away when we change up our diet and lifestyle habits and when we don’t see the immediate change we can throw our hands up and tell ourselves we tried. But these changes do not happen overnight.
“You don’t have to be perfect to get pregnant.”
We have spent years adding to our inflammation problems, and unhealthy habits, and it can take time to restore our body’s health. In addition, we talk about what secondary infertility is and how it is similar and different from unexplained infertility. In addition, we dive a bit into endometriosis and what it is, and how to deal with it.
With new diet and lifestyle changes you need to keep going.”

Is My PMS Affecting My Fertility? || Q&A PART 1
Friday Apr 30, 2021
Friday Apr 30, 2021
“If your cycle is irregular this is a big sign that your health is not where it should be.”
Topics Discussed:
🦩Are irregular menstrual cycles normal?
🦩What is normal when you have your period?
🦩How we should approach and respond to tests.
🦩What is the best type of food intolerance tests and are they all similar?
Growing up we are not often educated on what is normal and what is not when it comes to our menstrual cycles. Our education or parental guidance can sometimes be next to none. Even doctors can sometimes tell us that the severe symptoms we are experiencing are normal when in fact they are not.
“It’s not normal to have severe menstrual symptoms.”
We have to be intentional with both learnings about our bodies and listening to our bodies. There is no one size fits and no cycle that will look exactly the same, but we have to learn what is regular for us. We shouldn’t be experiencing severe mood swings or severe symptoms when we PMS, but take that as a sign that something is off with our overall health and learn how to correct that.
“Normal is having a healthy flow that is regular for you every month.”
Like other symptoms that can flare up in our bodies, our cycle can be a tell-tale sign of how we are doing and we need to be aware of it and not necessarily take things at face value just because that’s what we were taught or we’ve been told “that’s just how it is.”
“Your gut is like a different gut every 7-8 days.”

Top 2 Things You Need to Maintain Your Fertility Diet || Q&A PART 2
Friday Apr 23, 2021
Friday Apr 23, 2021
Infertility is all about finding that root cause.
Topics Discussed:
🦩Diets for PCOS
🦩The Importance of your thyroid health.
🦩Getting your spouse on board.
In today’s episode, I am answering questions I have received. Everyone’s journey is unique and not the same exact thing will work for everyone, but there are many commonalities and we can learn from each other on this journey. While diet is extremely important, there is no one size fits all to diets, and we have to be cautious of anyone who flat out tells us we need to be on a certain diet if we have had extensive food intolerance testing.
We don’t want just ‘fine'.
I also dive into thyroid health and how big of a role your thyroid plays in your journey to getting pregnant. I also tackle the tough topic of getting your spouse on board if they are unwilling. I share my own story of dealing with my spouse in the beginning and how I came to a breaking point and had to have a conversation with him about supporting me and the importance of doing this together.
You have to find your food intolerances.
Remember this is a journey and we can’t expect to have all the answers at once, but to slowly make steps and build upon them as we make strides to our ultimate goal of getting pregnant and carrying to birth.
You’ll need three months to improve both egg and sperm quality.

Top 2 Things You Need to Maintain Your Fertility Diet || Q&A PART1
Friday Apr 16, 2021
Friday Apr 16, 2021
Functional medicine should not be a class or money thing.
Topics Discussed:
🦩The top two things you need to commit to finding your right diet.
🦩The importance of accountability.
🦩Why you need self-love.
🦩How willpower is not enough.
When it comes to following through with things we are much more likely to stick with something when someone else is counting on us. This is why accountability is so important on our infertility journey. Both accountability to ourselves and accountability to others is a vital key to our success.
You need accountability.
One thing I have found working with women on this journey and from my own personal journey is that we are really bad with self negativity sometimes. We tell ourselves we are to blame for this, or it is punishment for past mistakes, or we aren’t fit enough. Whatever it is, we tend to talk down to ourselves. But we have to switch this self-sabotage to a dialogue of self-love with ourselves.
I love to hold myself accountable for the things I believe are going to get me to my goal.
Another thing I address in this episode is willpower. We are told that we just need more willpower to exercise, more willpower to eat healthily, etc. But in truth willpower alone is not enough. We have ingrained habits that we have developed over years and there is emotion tied to many of our eating decisions, and stress plays a role and we can’t just expect to “will” those things away all of a sudden. Instead, we have to explore and understand our patterns and make slow adjustments.
We have ingrained patterns that we have to explore and understand.
